Startup Bootcamps are one of the most popular types of business incubators. What are they you might ask? They are cohort-based programs that guide you through the process of ideation, scaling, and realizing your soon-to-be-formed or recently formed, or even fully formed startups.
What these bootcamps take founders through cannot be explained in a few words but whatever they do seem to work right? Many of the leading businesses of our time like Dropbox or Airbnb have been founded through the help of start-up incubators.
With the rise in the number of startups and different incubators, you might think that the equality factor in the ecosystem will be more than ever. But a recent study suggests otherwise, only 2.2% of investor money goes to womxn-led businesses.
Girls Get Funded is a safe place that was formed to this fight disparity in the startup ecosystem. Our founder, Shamma Raghib spent close to a decade observing, studying, and mentoring startups. She’s a SaaS founder herself and has first-hand experience of hearing ‘no’ from investors.
Our first-ever Bootcamp started last Saturday and we were joined by some amazing women who are either working to launch their start-ups or working to grow it. The first week of this virtual engagement was focused on the earliest stage of a business, the idea. Through the course of 6-weeks, we are looking forward to sharing knowledge on competitive differences, financial modelling, fundraising, unspoken do’s and don’ts, and many more.
When you are attending the Bootcamp, it can be furthest from comfortable. A lot of founders think going to a mentor means you get a clear shot at success. The truth is, we will help you think of opportunities but also obstacles. One of the key learning of a cohort like this is understanding the flaws of your business. Another reality is pivoting. You are most likely to change your idea again and again, which gets much less difficult with time but for first-time founders, it might not be as easy to admit that your ‘it’ plan may have to be discarded or morphed into a new one.
The journey of learning for our participants does not end with the GGF Bootcamp. You will be a part of our community that includes wonderful women around the learning, just waiting to help and guide you.
